Agrapart & Fils Terroirs Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Champagne Grand Cru 'Avize'
Founded in 1894, Champagne Agrapart has become a household name for the finest grower Champagnes in the Côte des Blancs. Pascal Agrapart, himself has been making wines there since inception. Terroirs is produced from only 100% Grand Cru sites in the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry. This wine is a blend of 40% 2014 with an impressive 60% reserve wine. Pascal’s élevage standards (like his viticulture) are far higher than most prestige cuvées we know of, making this one of Champagne’s most compelling wines. Wonderfully textured, this medium to full bodied wine is one to cherish for years to come.
Champagne Charles Dufour Bulles de Comptoir #8
One of the most important figures for organic production in Champagne, Charles Dufour is a true artist. Based in the Côte des Bar in the village of Landreville where he makes most of his wines, he started producing high quality Champagne in 2006, and in 4 years completed full conversion to be certified organic. The Bulles de Comptoir #8 is an assembly of 55% Pinot noir, 35% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Blanc from 2017 and reserve wines from 2011-2016. It spent 9 months in barrels, plus 3 months in stainless steel, and another 15 months in bottle on its lees. With less than 4g residual sugar, it features slight oxidation, nice minerality and a floral touch, definitely a Champagne for the discerning palate.
Emmanuel Brochet 1er Cru Le Mont Benoit L16/15
With approximately 2.5 hectares of vines planted within a single lieu-dit named Le Mont Benoit, Emmanuel Brochet produces some of the world’s most sought after Champagne. Emmanuel is as passionate as winemakers get, working almost entirely by himself on his vines which sit on a mixture of silt, clay and chalk. His flagship cuvee is a classic Champenois blend, base vintage from 2016 with 20% reserve wines and annual production of below 12,000 bottles. Enjoy the pure expression of this single terroir, precise wine hand crafted with the highest level of artistry and finesse.
Francis Orban Extra Brut
In the heart of the Marne Valley, Francis Orban dedicates his vineyard to mainly Pinot Meunier which goes against most norms in the region. Most commonly used as a blending grape, the Meunier is often overlooked as a single varietal wine. Francis, however, chooses to let it shine and take centrestage.
The Extra Brut is a wine full of fresh fruit and lightly spiced with notes of vanilla and pepper. Full-bodied, vivacious and pure, it is a Champagne for true gourmands, and definitely enjoys its place at the table easily paired with a variety of cuisines from seafood to cream-based dishes.
Bonnet-Ponson Cuvee Perpetuelle
Be the first to try the latest producer to reach our sunny shores this year. Champagne Bonnet-Ponson, helmed by 6th generation winemaker – Cyril, is based in the Montagne de Reims in the Premiere and Grand Cru sites of Chamery, Vrigny and Verzenay. Cuvee Perpetuelle is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 30% Meunier from Premier Cru plots in the Montagne de Reims. The harvest base of 2015 wines is also infused with an additional 40% perpetual reserve, and 4 years ageing on lees before disgorging.
Pierre Gerbais Grains de Celles
The Gerbais family spent eight generations nurturing their vines in the heart of Celles-sur-Ource, in the Côte des Bar, southern Champagne region. The ‘Grains de Celles’ cuvée is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Blanc and 25% Chardonnay from a selection of the estate’s greatest plots which consists the same Kimmeridgian soils made of marl and limestone that one finds in Chablis and Sancerre. Aged for 3 years before disgorgement, this Champagne is a great opener to Grower Champagnes with its fresh and inviting scents with creamy textures.
